Implant supported dentures are a more natural looking alternative to regular dentures. Unlike regular dentures, implant supported dentures are securely locked-in-place by implants, inserted into the jaw bone, either on the top or bottom jaw.

They provide a more stable support, locking safely into place giving greater comfort and the ability to eat foods that you may not have been able to eat before.

Choosing Implant Supported Dentures

Choosing to opt for implant supported dentures is a big decision as it requires two rounds of surgery. It can also be much harder to find a comfortable medium with implant dentures, as chewing can create sore points on gums, so several visits to the dentist to optimise comfort will be necessary.

Regular dentures are much more comfortable because the only thing holding them in place is the suction created by a full denture and the roof of your mouth.

The Process

The first of the two surgeries involves the surgeon placing the implants into the jawbone. An incision is made in the gum; a hole is then drilled into the bone and the implant is positioned in the hole.

The incision is then stitched closed and left to heal and fuse with the bone for anywhere up to 6 months. After your implants have been inserted, you should avoid putting pressure on the implants. Your surgeon will craft a temporary denture that you can use in the meantime.

Once your dentist is satisfied that your implants have fused to the bone you second surgery will be organised. This time, a small incision will be to expose the top of your implants. A healing cap is placed on each of the implants that will allow the gum tissue to heal properly.

Once your surgeon is happy with how your implants have healed since the addition of implant caps, an impression will be taken of your gums. This impression will then be used to make a model of your jaw; this will then be used to make your new dentures.

State of the art technology and skills and ability to match. I went to the clinic highly anxious ( my previous dental encounter at another clinic resulted in a panic attack and blacking out twice whilst in the chair) due to the poor integrity of my teeth, as a direct result of a health condition I had lost the majority of my teeth and the remaining were nothing short of a train wreck. Elias treated me the utmost respect and kindness. Read more

Implant supported dentures are a type of dental prosthetic that is designed to be permanently attached to the jawbone via implants. They typically replace a full arch of missing teeth and provide more stability and comfort than traditional dentures.
Implant supported dentures can be either removable or permanently fixed in place depending on the patient’s lifestyle and needs. The removable type allows easier access for cleaning while still providing excellent support, while the permanent option is ideal for those who want their prosthesis to stay securely in place without the possibility of slipping or becoming loose over time.

The implant denture procedure involves surgically placing small titanium screws into the bone to secure the denture. This ensures a tight fit that helps maintain proper alignment and provides extra stability when speaking, eating, or chewing food.
Implant supported dentures offer many benefits, such as increased comfort and stability compared to traditional dentures. They also help prevent bone loss due to their close contact with the jawbone, providing a long-term solution for those looking for a secure and natural-looking replacement for their missing teeth. If you want to know more, get in touch with the team at Aesthetic Dental & Denture Clinic to discuss.

Implant supported dentures are a great solution for those looking to replace a full arch of teeth with a secure, comfortable, and natural-looking prosthesis. Many benefits come with this type of dental treatment, including:

• Improved stability – Implant supported dentures are securely attached to the jawbone via small titanium screws, which provide much-needed stability that can be lacking in traditional dentures. This helps them stay firmly in place when you’re speaking or eating and also prevents them from slipping or becoming loose over time.

• Increased comfort – Since they’re attached directly to the jawbone, implant supported dentures feel more natural and comfortable than other types of prostheses. They also help avoid the potential sore spots that may develop after prolonged use of regular dentures.

• More natural-looking smile – Implant supported dentures have a much more realistic appearance than non-implant dentures and can help you feel more confident about your smile.

Implant supported dentures offer many advantages over traditional ones and can be an excellent option for anyone looking to fill in gaps left by missing teeth. With proper care, these prostheses can last for years while giving you the confidence boost and comfort you need when smiling or speaking in public.

Dentures that are supported by implants are intended to be a more permanent alternative for people who are missing all of their natural teeth. These prostheses have the potential to persist for many years—sometimes even up to 15 or more years—if the patient practises good oral hygiene and receives routine care from a trained practitioner.

The longevity of implant-supported dentures will be determined by several factors, including the material used in their manufacture, your overall dental health, and how well you care for them. It is likely that your implant supported denture will have a longer lifespan if you are conscientious about caring for it by brushing your teeth at least twice daily, flossing at least once daily, using mouthwash on a regular basis, and going to the dentist for checkups and cleanings on a regular basis.

It is also important to remember that even though implant-supported dentures are created to offer stability and support over a long period, they may still require some adjustments from your dentist down the road to maintain a comfortable fit.
With proper care and maintenance, implant-supported dentures can provide an excellent solution for tooth loss and last for many years if not decades. If you want to know more, call the team at Aesthetic Dental & Denture Clinic for further information.

Implant-supported dentures are a great solution for replacing missing teeth, providing stability, comfort, and a natural-looking smile. In order to ensure that they last as long as possible, here are some tips on how to care for your implant supported dentures:

• Brush twice daily – Just like natural teeth, it’s important to brush your implant supported denture twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste. This will help remove plaque and other food debris from hard-to-reach places.

• Floss at least once daily – Flossing is essential for keeping your implant supported dentures clean and free from bacteria. Use a waxed dental floss or recommended interdental brush designed specifically for cleaning around implants.

• Rinse after every meal – Rinsing your mouth with an antiseptic mouthwash after each meal can help reduce the risk of bacteria build-up around the implants and remove any residual food particles in areas that brushing may have missed.

• Have regular check-ups with your dentist – It’s important to visit your dentist at least once every six months or as advised in order to ensure that everything is in good condition. Your dentist may suggest minor adjustments or replacements if needed.
By following these tips, you can ensure that your implant supported denture lasts as long as possible while providing optimum comfort and function.

Implant supported dentures can help restore your natural smile and improve your ability to bite, chew, and speak. However, like any surgical procedure, there are risks and complications associated with implant supported denture procedures.
The most common risk is infection at the implant site. To minimise the chances of this happening, it’s important to practice good oral hygiene both before and after surgery. This means brushing twice daily, flossing once daily, using antiseptic mouthwash regularly and seeing your dentist for check-ups at least twice a year.
Another possible complication is peri-implantitis, caused by plaque build-up around the implants. If not treated promptly, this can lead to tissue loss and bone resorption around the implant, compromising its stability. To prevent this from happening, it’s essential to maintain good oral hygiene habits such as regular brushing and flossing as well as rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash after meals.
Finally, it’s important to remember that while implant-supported dentures have been found to be highly successful in restoring dental function over long periods, they may still require minor adjustments after several years to ensure a comfortable fit.
It’s always best to discuss all potential risks or complications with your dentist prior to undergoing any dental procedure so that you can make an informed decision about what’s best for you.
