If you spend a lot of time on social media or watching your favourite shows on television, you’re likely to question one thing in particular when it comes to celebrities and influencers … how on earth do they get their teeth to look so white?

The answer is simple – teeth whitening – and at Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we provide teeth whitening to people from a variety of ages and backgrounds.

People get professional teeth whitening for a range of reasons, including:

  • Reliable results
  • Increases self esteem
  • Works fast
  • Shifts focus of your face away from wrinkles
  • It’s affordable
  • Helps you smile more
  • Makes you seem more approachable
  • Doesn’t damage your teeth
  • More effective than home based beauty bars or commercial beauty salons as the concentrate of active ingredient used by a dental professional is only available to dental practitioners

Teeth whitening is perfect if you’re self conscious about the colour of your teeth and want to give yourself a boost. It’s also affordable and the results could change your outlook on life. More confidence brings greater success.

What You Need To Know

There are many options available when it comes to teeth whitening, but not every option is suitable for everyone. If you’re after professional teeth whitening, the following will help you to make an informed choice.

There is a range of teeth whitening treatments that you can use, both with the assistance of your dentist and without.

At the dentist, your tooth whitening experience generally includes products that have a high percentage of hydrogen peroxide. Why? Because it works faster than other options. This is applied to your teeth and active ingredients are created through the use of heat, LED light and laser.

One of the most popular technologies used with dentists is Zoom, which uses whitening gels that can provide visible changes within just one 45 minute session. Zoom teeth whitening is where a special lamp is used in combination with the hydrogen peroxide-based Zoom whitening gel. If you opt for our in-office option we will also provide you with some custom made whitening trays to take home along with some touch up gel so if in the future you feel like the colour is starting to fade a little you can give it a little boost for 30 mins each night for 1-2 days.

If you’re after a home whitening kit, we can provide you with a kit that consists of a custom made whitening tray and the whitening agent and one of our dentists will advise you on the correct method for you to use at home.

If you have very sensitive teeth, there are methods we can use to prevent sensitivity. We encourage you to discuss this with the dentist for a tailored approach.

Keep in mind that the Australian Dental Association recommends you choose a professional teeth whitening service over DIY at home to ensure you are adequately protected from the active ingredients.

The answer to this isn’t “black and white” – and it really depends on the condition and the genetic makeup of your teeth before you started the procedure. Yellow teeth will generally whiten much better than teeth that are made up of brown or grey tones. At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic our dentists will assess each individual patient and advise of the expected results.

The process of whitening teeth can sometimes cause patients to experience some temporary sensitivity, however we have adapted methods to prevent this as best as possible and our dentists will discuss these options with you at your initial appointment.

The Whitening process makes teeth more receptible to stains. As such, you should also avoid certain foods and drinks such as red wine, curries, coffee, black tea, colour rich foods and tobacco for around a week after treatment.

In the first 48 hours after treatment, stick to plain coloured food, such as chicken, fish, rice, cauliflower, potato, bread, plain yoghurt, bananas and pasta.

You can get teeth whitening if you are old enough – most professionals recommend you are aged 14+ (although some dentists recommend being aged 18+); have stained teeth and want to boost your confidence. You should avoid teeth whitening if you are pregnant or have recently given birth as the chemicals involved in the process can enter the breast milk and placenta. You should also avoid teeth whitening if you have tooth decay or gum disease, sensitive teeth and gums, or some other medical conditions.
Having your teeth whitened at the dentist is completely safe. Before the procedure, they will apply your gums with rubber shields and gels, and you will wear protective goggles to reduce exposure to active bleaching agents.

The cost of teeth whitening varies depending on the preferred treatment method. If you choose to take a home teeth whitening kit, you’ll find that it’s much more affordable than in-chair bleaching performed by the dentist.

At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we provide payment options for a number of our services, including our teeth whitening in Sydney, so be sure to ask.

State of the art technology and skills and ability to match. I went to the clinic highly anxious ( my previous dental encounter at another clinic resulted in a panic attack and blacking out twice whilst in the chair) due to the poor integrity of my teeth, as a direct result of a health condition I had lost the majority of my teeth and the remaining were nothing short of a train wreck. Elias treated me the utmost respect and kindness. Read more

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we offer two types of denture, complete and partial. Complete dentures are necessary when all your natural teeth are missing. A partial denture is used when some natural teeth remain. If you are having extractions, we can also provide you with an immediate denture. This is often an interim denture so you can avoid the embarrassment of being without teeth.

A denture usually lasts between five and seven years. Time and natural changes in the mouth will affect the fit and wear patterns of your denture. If your denture is worn and doesn’t fit as well as it used to, it may require a repair or reline. Having your denture checked every two years will help to ensure a proper fit and by following your denture care instructions, you’ll extend the life of your replacement teeth.

Dentures don’t last forever. Dentures usually last between 5 to 7 years and need to be relined every 1 to 2 years. Over time dentures become worn and don’t fit as well, so it’s important to reline them regularly. The better you follow your denture care instructions, the longer your replacement teeth will last.

It is advised that you visit your dentist every 6 months for a check-up and clean. This will help to prevent any major oral health issues from occurring. However, if you have bad breath, bleeding gums, discoloured teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, tooth or jaw pain it is advised to make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.

At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we know attending the dentist can be difficult for nervous and anxious patients. We offer a number of options to help make your next visit as calm and stress-free as possible. Contact us today and a friendly dental technician will be able to give you all the options available.
