How Much Veneers Cost in Australia?

Snow-white, flawless teeth are often associated with a youthful look. While this tempts you to bleach your teeth, you might have unnatural, white squares.

How to solve this?

With veneers, you can have natural but not overly perfect teeth! These finger-nail-thin mouldings cover your teeth’ flaws the way you want. They provide subtle imperfections, creating a realistic translucency and opaque whiteness.

Opting for these highly customised, natural-looking veneers entails a varying fee. Not to mention that creating personable veneers is difficult as each person’s teeth differ in colour, symmetry, shape and size. Besides, you probably don’t want your chompers to look like someone else’s!

That said, this article provides a comprehensive overview of veneer costs across Australia, enabling you to make a well-informed choice for this dental cosmetic treatment.

Average Cost of Dental Veneers in Australia

It’s a common misconception that veneers are solely for aesthetic purposes. These wafer-thin porcelains are often bonded atop your filed teeth. It conceals your front teeth from further discolouration, cracks, gaps or even minor misalignment.

How expensive is it to hide teeth imperfections with veneers? It primarily depends on which type you’re looking for. The Australian Dental Association reports that veneers cost $300 to $1,300 per tooth. This goes up depending on the material used, location, clinic, and procedures required.

While getting veneers is straightforward, you still need to undergo consultations. After customising your veneers, your dentist carefully attaches them and makes final adjustments to fit them on your polished teeth. Often, the complicated procedures required to get these drive up overall costs.

Veneer Cost in Major Australian Cities

Veneers cost differently depending on which teeth you cover, either at the front or back of the mouth. A veneer made from tooth-coloured material, such as composite resin or porcelain, adds to the overall expenses.

You must also consider whether these veneers are applied directly in a single visit or indirectly, only attached after lab fabrication. Here’s a glimpse of the average veneer cost in major Australian cities based on the national dental fee survey:

Sydney

As one of Australia’s most populous cosmopolitan cities, Sydney’s veneer options suit anyone’s varied budgets and preferences. Prices here for direct adhesive veneer restoration fall between $375 and $400 per tooth. Additionally, getting a single tooth-coloured veneer may cost you over $1,200.

These figures are likely to double based on a myriad of factors. For instance, opting for premium materials like porcelains at a prime location in Sydney typically commands a higher price. This is especially true when a highly skilled dentist crafts and applies your veneers.

Melbourne

With its high standard of living, Melbourne’s clinics offer adhesive veneer restoration for about $400 per tooth. Regarding indirect tooth-coloured veneers, each tooth costs over $1,300. These specific values can fluctuate based on your clinic’s expertise and procedure.

Brisbane

Renowned for its subtropical climate and laidback lifestyle, Brisbane typically charges over $360 for a direct, single veneer. Expect to pay around $1,200 for a tooth-coloured veneer, which can increase when you prefer higher-grade, tougher porcelains.

Perth

Perth tends to have lower pricing for direct adhesive restoration veneers, starting at $320 per tooth. On the other hand, an indirect tooth-coloured veneer rate here is worth over $1,200. These values may vary, especially when you require additional dental work.

Adelaide

Adelaide is South Australia’s capital and has a remarkably friendly atmosphere. When it comes to enhancing pristine smiles, the city’s rate for a direct adhesive restoration with veneers starts at $380 per tooth. Prices shoot up to $1,100 – $1,200 for an indirect tooth-coloured veneer, and they are bound to rise depending on the clinic’s location and procedures.

Factors Influencing the Cost of Veneers

While veneer costs differ for each state, this can still vary depending on several key factors. Understanding these variables is crucial to making an informed decision aligning your budgets and expectations. The final expense is the sum of these:

Material Type

One substantial factor contributing to the final cost is the material used. Porcelain veneers are typically more expensive due to their exceptional durability and stain resistance. Meanwhile, composite veneers are more budget-friendly but may not last as long as porcelain types.

Complexity of Individual Cases

Each person’s dental condition is unique. That’s why the complexity of your case determines the total cost. For example, you might undergo gum reshaping or tooth decay treatment before getting veneers.

Other than that, intricate veneer customisations often contribute to higher total expenses. To do so, you need to undergo meticulous processes, including:

  • Initial consultation and examination
  • Teeth preparation and impression
  • Veneer crafting and fabrication
  • Final placement and adjustment
  • Aftercare and maintenance

Dentist’s Expertise

Veneer costs also rely on your dentist’s credentials and expertise. Although this incurs extra charges, it guarantees a better, safer, and long-lasting result. A skilled dentist also ensures that your veneers fit comfortably and seamlessly.

Clinic Location

Another key thing to remember is that prices fluctuate in your state. Clinics in major cities like Sydney or Melbourne may offer more costly veneers than in towns or suburban areas. This is primarily due to higher living costs and operational expenses in these affluent areas.

Veneers Cost by Type and Region

According to the latest statistics from the Australian Dental Association, porcelain veneers tend to be more expensive, costing over $1,800 per tooth. This higher price tag is attributed to its natural appearance and resistance to staining or discolouration.

Remember that a tooth-coloured veneer starts at $1,200 for most major cities. However, this price may exclude the fees for your dentist’s expertise, location, extra procedures, and even your desired level of customisations.

On the other hand, affordable composite veneers start at $400-$800 per tooth. This price can increase, but it’s often cheaper because it requires a simpler application process and less costly materials.

State of the art technology and skills and ability to match. I went to the clinic highly anxious ( my previous dental encounter at another clinic resulted in a panic attack and blacking out twice whilst in the chair) due to the poor integrity of my teeth, as a direct result of a health condition I had lost the majority of my teeth and the remaining were nothing short of a train wreck. Elias treated me the utmost respect and kindness. Read more

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we offer two types of denture, complete and partial. Complete dentures are necessary when all your natural teeth are missing. A partial denture is used when some natural teeth remain. If you are having extractions, we can also provide you with an immediate denture. This is often an interim denture so you can avoid the embarrassment of being without teeth.

A denture usually lasts between five and seven years. Time and natural changes in the mouth will affect the fit and wear patterns of your denture. If your denture is worn and doesn’t fit as well as it used to, it may require a repair or reline. Having your denture checked every two years will help to ensure a proper fit and by following your denture care instructions, you’ll extend the life of your replacement teeth.

Dentures don’t last forever. Dentures usually last between 5 to 7 years and need to be relined every 1 to 2 years. Over time dentures become worn and don’t fit as well, so it’s important to reline them regularly. The better you follow your denture care instructions, the longer your replacement teeth will last.

It is advised that you visit your dentist every 6 months for a check-up and clean. This will help to prevent any major oral health issues from occurring. However, if you have bad breath, bleeding gums, discoloured teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, tooth or jaw pain it is advised to make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.

At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we know attending the dentist can be difficult for nervous and anxious patients. We offer a number of options to help make your next visit as calm and stress-free as possible. Contact us today and a friendly dental technician will be able to give you all the options available.
