A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. At Aesthetic Denture Clinic, we offer two types of denture, complete and partial. Complete dentures are necessary when all your natural teeth are missing. A partial denture is used when some natural teeth remain. If you are having extractions, we can also provide you with an immediate denture. This is often an interim denture so you can avoid the embarrassment of being without teeth.
A denture usually lasts between five and seven years. Time and natural changes in the mouth will affect the fit and wear patterns of your denture. If your denture is worn and doesn’t fit as well as it used to, it may require a repair or reline. Having your denture checked every two years will help to ensure a proper fit and by following your denture care instructions, you’ll extend the life of your replacement teeth.
If you dental cover is included in your current private health fund you should be able to claim a rebate. We recommend that you discuss your eligibility for a rebate directly with your health fund provider. This will avoid any surprises when claiming.
To work out an accurate out of pocket cost, you will need a quotation from the clinic. We are happy to provide this for you. It will include specific pricing on each item.
Dentures don’t last forever. Dentures usually last between 5 to 7 years and need to be relined every 1 to 2 years. Over time dentures become worn and don’t fit as well, so it’s important to reline them regularly. The better you follow your denture care instructions, the longer your replacement teeth will last.
There are many different types of dentures, and the cost will depend on the type that you require. More and more denture clinics are opening, and many offer deals and price reductions. Remember, selecting a denture provider based on price alone may not allow you the opportunity to discover just how comfortable and seamlessly matched a denture can be. At your initial consultation, we will assess your needs and discuss your concerns in depth. Then, we’ll discuss costs before commencing any treatment.
Dentures are made to resemble your natural teeth as closely as possible, so there should be no noticeable change to your appearance. Our dental prosthetist, Elias Sara is an extensively trained ceramist. His craftsmanship is second to none. He has a meticulous eye for detail and will go to great lengths to ensure your new teeth look as natural as possible and don’t affect your speech. We also recommend bringing in a photo of yourself with original teeth, so we have a better understanding of exactly what you need.
It will take you some time to adjust to your denture. Your cheek muscles and tongue will need to learn how to keep your denture in place. You may have some soreness or irritation at first, but this will settle down and become more comfortable over time.
At first, your denture will affect your ability to eat. It can be a little uncomfortable initially, and it’s a good idea to practice with small pieces of soft food. You may also have difficulty saying certain words, so try to practice these as much as possible. As with anything new, it will take the time to perfect but you will soon become accustomed to eating and speaking properly.

You may have some difficulty saying certain words. With practice and time you will become accustomed to speaking properly with your denture. We recommend spending extra time practicing on those hard to say words.
Dentures may even improve your smile and fill out your facial appearance. Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth so there should be no noticeable change to your appearance.
Your denture will come with a starter pack of information on daily denture care. We’ll also give you a sample of Polident denture cleanser. It’s best to clean your denture over a sink filled with water or over a folded towel to save them from being damaged if you drop them. Never use toothpaste to clean your denture. It’s too abrasive and will cause damage.
It is a good idea to remove your denture for at least eight hours a day to give the supporting tissue a chance to rest. We usually recommend removing your denture while you sleep. However, your dental prosthetist will discuss this with you, as it can vary from case to case.
When you are not wearing your dentures, you should store them in the denture box provided to protect them from unexpected loss or damage.
If you find your dentures are hurting, contact our clinic to arrange an appointment. It is not unusual however to develop some sore spots with a new denture. You should continue to wear your denture for as long as possible prior to your appointment. This will help us identify the cause of the problem and resolve it with slight adjustments.

It is advised that you visit your dentist every 6 months for a check-up and clean. This will help to prevent any major oral health issues from occurring. However, if you have bad breath, bleeding gums, discoloured teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, tooth or jaw pain it is advised to make an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.
At Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic, we know attending the dentist can be difficult for nervous and anxious patients. We offer a number of options to help make your next visit as calm and stress-free as possible. Contact us today and a friendly dental technician will be able to give you all the options available.
