Elias Sara recently attended the International Dental Show (IDS) held in Cologne, Germany from March 25 to 29, 2025. The four-day event is the biggest dental expo on the planet, offering new and interesting learnings and the latest developments in the industry.
Elias met hundreds of dental professionals from different countries, each with a passion for delivering better, smarter, and more predictable smiles. The highlight of the event was “Surgical Protocol for Zygomatic Implants,” a two-hour workshop led by Dr. Dan Holtzclaw. This class left attendees with a newfound appreciation for the complex procedure.
The IDS was where big players, Vita Zahnfabrik from Bad Säckingen and Bredent Medical from Senden, stood out. These companies combine artificial intelligence (AI), digital smile design (DSD), and automated manufacturing to create better and more effective patient outcomes.
Elias also joined Vita Zahnfabrik’s Advanced Denture Training Course. Together with other dental professionals, Elias learned balanced occlusion, lingualised setups, and the biomechanics of full upper and lower dentures. They also toured a manufacturing plant that produces dental tools and materials with detailed quality and amazing precision.
Their IDS trip was not without detours. Elias and his colleagues took a tour of the legendary Rothaus Brewery located on the northern edge of Grafenhausen. Here, they enjoyed a cold brew and some crispy pork knuckles—definitely an experience not to be missed.
Final Thoughts
For Elias, this IDS trip was about reigniting inspiration, reminding him why he loves his profession. He also admitted excitement to apply these learnings in caring for his patients, helping them smile confidently and comfortably.
